Planted: Lincoln Peas

The first vegetable to go in the ground this year is Lincoln Peas on March 21, 2009.  I estimate that the last frost will be around April 24 this year — planting 4 weeks before the last frost. The peas were purchased from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds.

This is the first year growing peas — we always planned to get them at the Green City Market, but we’ve found that they are only available for a very short period of time.  We’ll know how they turned out in about 67 days.

Lincoln
An old-time pea introduced in 1908. High-yielding and tasty, this pea does better than many in warmer weather. The tightly-filled pods ae easy to shell, and compact vines are a good choice for small gardens.
