All of the weeds are pulled by hand and a hand cultivator to break them up at the roots. Since I use many of the square foot gardening principles, the plants aren’t in traditional rows where a hoe would work well.
The weeds are dropped into a compost pile and eventually makes it back into the garden.
This is a wonderful web site. It has made me want to grow more than just tomatoes in my garden. Farmer Jay keep on growing those vegees and tell me when you open up your farm stand.
Farmer Jay farms a 200 square foot garden in Chicago, IL. He tends to his "farm" on nights and weekends growing spinach, lettuces, corn, tomatoes, herbs, radishes, cucumbers, garlic, potatoes, ground cherries, and other vegetables he sees fit to grow for his friends and family.
Everything grown on the "farm" is grown using organic and sustainable practices.
The pictures above are from the "farm" in 2007 and 2008.

Do you pull the weeds or use a hoe?
Do you compost the weeds?
